On Gaudete Sunday, the third Sunday of Advent, Fr Tom O’Reilly lit the third candle on the Advent wreath and led the prayers of the community in Dalgan Park.
We pray that our lives may continue to be anchored in the joy of the Gospel. That we may rejoice each day in the small blessings we have received from God.
That we may be assured that Emmanuel, God with us, is continually present in our lives even in the darkest moments.
That while we may not be able to gather all our family around the Christmas table, we will be touched by a deeper love that draws us together during this pandemic.
That the many who suffer loneliness and depression at this time receive an inner peace and joy by engaging with the Christmas story.
That the many volunteers who reach out to individuals and communities in need be encouraged and appreciated.
That this Advent light will lead the many migrants and refugees who are continually on the move towards a more just, caring and welcoming society.
That this light may remind us to keep our sense of joy alive despite of the difficulties we encounter.
