Come along to Clonard, County Meath on Saturday 17th September from 10.30am – 3.30pm for the end of Summer Columbanus Festival that celebrates ‘Clonard and St Finnian’.
The one-day Festival takes place at St Finnian’s Church in Clonard A83 AR26.
Registration will commence at 10.30am and the event will begin at 11.00am with a talk on the legacy of St Finnian by renowned lecturer and scholar, Dr Pádraig Ó Riain, Professor Emeritus UCC.
This will be followed at 12.00pm by a session of music and poetry led by composer and musician, Máire Ní Duibhir with a group of students from Ballinasloe and Galway.
In the afternoon at 1.30pm there will be a conversation around medieval bells by Dr Holger Lönze, Dealbhóir/Sculptor, who lives in Ballinaskelligs, Co Kerry.
All are invited to take part in a short pilgrim walk starting at 2.00pm from the Church in Clonard to the old St Finnian Monastic site and St Finnian‘s Well.
Tea and coffee will be provided, but do bring along some light refreshments to share.
The event is free, however you may like to make a suggested contribution of €10 to support the work of the local Committee.
The event is organised by St Finnian of Clonard Project Group, Kinnegad Parish and the National Association Friends of Saint Columbanus.
