Columban Sisters Visit Dalgan

Jul 21, 2023

Fr Pat Raleigh was one of the Columban Fathers who welcomed 20 Columban Sisters from Magheramore to Dalgan on Tuesday, 18 July 2023. He reports on a day of welcome and shared memories.

The rainy weather did not dampen the spirits. The 20 Columban Sisters from Magheramore community arrived in Dalgan at around 11.30am in a special minibus.

Srs Mary Dillon, Mary Greaney, Fr Padraig O’Donovan and Sr Cecily McMahon.

Fr Padraig O’Donovan gave them a very warm welcome on behalf of the Dalgan Community and Columbans home on vacation.

Over a cup of tea, both the Sisters and priests had the opportunity to recall memories of mission and cooperation down through the years and renew the bonds of friendship.

The conversations and the sharing of stories continued during lunch.

After lunch a number of the Sisters visited the Community cemetery. Covid had prevented such visits from taking place. It is good to be back to some sense of normality.

The Community in Dalgan look forward to a trip to Magheramore in September.
