One of the positive fruits of the Covid pandemic for Columbans in Ireland has been the opportunity lockdown afforded them to write and reflect on faith and spirituality.
Three books have been published so far this year by Columbans in the Irish region.
The most recent is Voices from the Desert: The Lost Legacy of Skelligs by Fr Hugh MacMahon. It is published by Columba Books and can be ordered here: https://columbabooks.com/product/voices-from-the-desert/
In April, Veritas published Fr Tom O’Reilly’s new book Acts of the Apostles: A Reading For Mission Today. It was hailed by both the Papal Nuncio to Ireland, Archbishop Jude Okolo, and by Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly, who described it as “a very key book for missionary groups” at the online launch.

In January, Messenger Publications launched Fr Sean McDonagh’s new book, Robots, Ethics and the Future of Jobs in which he argues that we need to understand and address the potential repercussions of developing technology in an ethical vacuum. Our digital future is fast approaching with little regulation and few institutional policies and protections.
