Last month four Columbans from the Pakistan Mission Unit travelled to Lahore for a Memorial Mass for the three Columbans buried there, writes Fr Tomás King.
The three are: lay missionary Pilar Tilos, Fr Pat McCaffrey and Fr Tommy ‘Tanvir’ O’Hanlon.
We were unable to do so last year due the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Mass was held in St Columban’s Parish, Greentown.
It was a happy occasion, with a great welcome and hospitality from the priests and people in the parish.
The graves were visited, including Pilar’s, who is buried in the other side of the city in Shadbagh.
Plenty of rose petals were scattered and incense sticks lit.
As well as remembering three great missionaries, it was also good catching up with some of the friends Columbans had made over the years while in Lahore.
