In 1974, the late Cardinal Tomas O’Fiaich published ‘Columbanus in his own words’. This brief work, published by Veritas, offered many Irish people a helpful introduction to the life and writings of St Columban.

During the following forty years there has been a renewed interest in the saint among both Irish and Continental scholars.
