The Columban Ireland-Asia Residence is a “welcoming community”, located in a house in Maynooth. It caters to Sisters, priests and lay leaders, mainly from China, who are doing language studies and third level courses at nearby St Patrick’s College Maynooth.
The project is a way for Columbans to show our continuing support for the Church in China and other parts of Asia, by offering a positive experience and support to those encountering an unfamiliar culture and Church in Ireland.
In turn, the students are encouraged to bring along their friends – Christian and non-Christian – thus allowing Columbans to also welcome them to Ireland and learn about the riches of their heritage.
